Tigers Walk Off with 2-1 Win
|
Adelaide got a terrific performance from pitcher Dong-jin Kim, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tokyo Tigers. Tokyo won the Tokyo Tigers Park contest, 2-1. Kim threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Tokyo reliever Cole Aubel picked up the win to move to 4-2. Rickey Spiteri suffered the loss. The third-place Tigers improved to 44-55.
Tokyo won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Rickey Spiteri on the mound for Adelaide, third baseman Connor Leahy hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Tigers fans to their feet.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Leahy told the Tokyo Gazette. "But we take nothing for granted."
