Tigers Post 4-1 Win
|
Tokyo starter Jeff Dittmar put a stranglehold on the Cleveland offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Tigers to a 4-1 win. In 6 innings, Dittmar surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Bill Spencer closed the game out for Tokyo, earning his 1st save.
Tony Hernandez, the 10th overall pick in the 2002 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hernandez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Tokyo up, 4-1.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Hernandez. "But I have better dreams after a win."
With the win, the Tigers improved to 43-40.
