Toronto Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
The Toronto Huskies combined strong pitching and timely hitting to take Game 1 of the World Series, 6-3, in a walk-off win over the Dubai Bedouins.
The Huskies got a solid performance from starter Katsuyoshi Ponce. The left-handed Ponce threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball in the win, which gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
Daniel Ibarra played the role of hero for Toronto. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a 3-run home run off Jimmy Christiano to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was the decisive blow.
"It's a mindset," said Ponce. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, October 25th , 2018.
