Mike Sutton and the St. Lucia Mermen opened the Division Series in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Havana and shutting out the host Sugar Kings at Sugar Kings Stadium 2-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Sutton, the Mermen left-hander, threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball.

Sutton allowed no runs on 1 hit over 8 innings for the Mermen. He walked 2 and struck out 6.

"I liked his command," said St. Lucia manager Ryan Eaton. "Mike was throwing strikes."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sunday, October 3rd , 2010.
