Blucifers Go Down to Defeat, 5-3
|
Allen Ainsworth was a vital contributor to the 5-3 Sao Paulo victory over Denver. The Black Mambas shortstop was 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ramiro Blanco, the winning pitcher, is now 3-1. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. Sam Neville earned save number 23 this season.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Ainsworth hit a bases-clearing triple. It propelled the Black Mambas into the lead, 3-0.
"We played hard and won," said Ainsworth. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Black Mambas own a robust 105-47 mark.
