Huskies Earn 11-8 Win Against Black Mambas
|
In a high-scoring contest between Toronto and Sao Paulo, designated hitter Tim Saenger was a difference-maker. Saenger, who finished 2nd in the NL in slugging percentage with .558 in 2008, distinguished himself in the 11-8 Toronto win. He went 3-5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Savion Garrett was called on to finish, recording his 32nd save. At 81-59, the Huskies find themselves in first place in the Northern League Great White North.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Miguel de Cena, the Toronto second baseman. de Cena had a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Huskies ahead, 7-6. For the game, de Cena had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Sao Paulo manager Danny Ruiz.
