Sint Maarten Sun Chasers starter Justin Hughes hurled his team past the Sao Paulo Black Mambas, 4-2. Hughes, now 19-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Miguel Cadena earned the save, his 29th.

Sint Maarten used a well-timed hit by Jon Patey to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sun Chasers ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Hughes. "Successful pitchers do it."

The Sun Chasers saw their record improve to 76-50.
