Shinnosuke Shimo, who finished 3rd in the JCL in wins with 11 last year, was locked in. The left-hander led the YT Swallows to a 4-2 win against the YDNA BayStars at Yokohama Stadium. Shimo, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Raidel Martinez sewed up the save, his 2nd.

Taishi Ota, who is a two-time Golden Glove Award winner, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ota contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put YT up, 4-0.

"Shinnosuke kept them off-balance, threw a great game for us," said Swallows manager Hiroyuki Nakajima.

YT goes to 2-3.
