Nationals Hand San Diego 6-2 Loss
|
The Washington Nationals got a good effort from starter Dylan Cease in defeating the San Diego Padres at Nationals Park. The final score was 6-2. The winning pitcher was Cease, now 10-7. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. The Nationals now have a record of 46-52 with the win over San Diego.
Brandon Marsh had a big run-scoring double for the Nationals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Sean Hjelle and swatted a double to left. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 3-1.
Washington manager Dan D called it "a pretty good win."
