Blue Jays Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The St. Louis Cardinals could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Sonny Gray into a win. Instead, the Toronto Blue Jays prevailed, 6-5. Gray threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Toronto is now 37-32. St. Louis is 33-35.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Kyle Farmer to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 6-5. For the game, Farmer had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Farmer. "Those qualities define our team."
