Gonzales Blisters Copenhagen
|
It was a hits blitz for Oscar Gonzales at Ballpark of Fowler.
The Fiji Goshawks left fielder tore into the Copenhagen Mercury for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Mercury swept past the Goshawks, 8-7, to ruin Gonzales's day.
"We weren't locating our pitches well," Fiji manager OvĂdio Alcafachoa explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Oscar was nice but it wasn't enough."
Oscar Gonzales singled in the 1st, walked in a run in the 2nd, tripled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
So far this season, Gonzales has recorded a .274 batting average with 37 hits, 1 home run, 11 RBIs, 21 runs scored and a .344 OBP.
