Usiku Breezes to Shutout Victory
|
All went well for Negera Usiku of the Tripoli Black Dogs as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 2-0, over the Washington Communists, limiting them to 4 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Usiku on the day.
"Negera's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Black Dogs manager Pao-tzu Bi. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Tripoli left-hander rang up 5 and surrendered 2 walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Communists manager Raul Alday. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
On his stats sheet this season, Usiku shows a 4-1 record, 5 starts, 35 innings, 19 strikeouts and a 1.03 ERA.
