Kangaroos Grind Out 2-0 Win
|
Ernie Nathans never let Dubai get something going. The Melbourne left-hander commanded his changeup in pitching the Kangaroos to a 2-0 win. Melbourne reliever Ulkini Toora snagged the win, upping his record to 3-1. Sergio Estremera shouldered the loss. Melbourne is second in the Eastern League Oceania with a record of 62-53.
The Towers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Kangaroos going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 2109 Rookie of the Year Award winner Gebre-Selassie Konchellah came to the plate. Konchellah hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from Dubai hurler Sergio Estremera. It was Konchellah's 21st home run of the year.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Konchellah.
