Wildcard Series Goes the Distance, Junagadh Prevails
|
The fans in Junagadh are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Inverness.
The Junagadh Legion finished off the Inverness Nessies 2-0 in the deciding game of the Wildcard Series played at Red Wings Ballpark.
They took the series 3-2 and will now head to the Division Series.
For his standout play, Junagadh first baseman Dylan Kelk was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .450, drove in 5 runs and scored 5 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Kelk and that doomed us," said Nessies manager Martial Longari. "Hats off to Junagadh, though. That was a great series."
The Junagadh Legion will play against the Algiers Legends in the next round. Algiers won their series against the Kosovo Apple Sox 3 games to 2. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
