The Tehran Stars started the Wildcard Series in style today, winning on the road against the South Africa Black Sox at Seoul Grounds by a score of 10-6 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Stars designated hitter Yowen Mbaruku excelled. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

The Stars took a 10-6 lead in the top of the ninth inning. Facing South Africa hurler Mengistu Letsego with two outs, Mbaruku hit a bases-clearing double.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Mbaruku.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Seoul Grounds in Johannesburg.
