St. Lucie Mets Are Champs Friday, October 12th , 2029 For the St. Lucie Mets, it was a joyful time; for the Palm Beach Cardinals, it was gloom and doom. With a 3-2 win at Clover Park, St. Lucie closed out the championship 4-2 over Palm Beach. The Mets have now won their 3rd league championship in franchise history. The streets around the Mets' stadium were a mob scene, filling quickly with fans, while banners and flags were held high and waved proudly. "It's unbelievable for us, our great fans, and all of St. Lucie," said a smiling owner The owner of the St. Lucie Mets. "The guys really put their heart and soul into this season and it paid off for them." In a somewhat somber and dejected Cardinals clubhouse, manager Ryan Glynn said his team "just didn't get the job done." "The Mets played as good as any team I've seen and deserve to be champions," he said. The champs finished the regular season 72-60 and claimed first place in the East Division. View Boxscore |
