Reds Snap Springer Streak at 20
Saturday, July 10th , 2027
For once, it was the Pittsburgh (DSL) Pirates Gold picking up the slack for Josh Springer.
The club's "offensive catalyst," as Pittsburgh (DSL) manager Drew Hasler has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent and saw his 20-game hitting streak snapped by the Cincinnati (DSL) Reds. Springer was bailed out by the rest of the Pirates Gold, however, who stopped the Reds, 8-5.
The 21-year-old shortstop finished the day 0-for-3, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me."
"Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow."
A look at his season totals shows Springer with 6 home runs, .459 BA, .574 OBP, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
