Big Day for Cespedes: Swats 5 Hits
Thursday, June 25th , 2026
Even as a kid, Yoeilin Cespedes said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At JetBlue Park, Cespedes showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 20-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Boston (FCL) Red Sox, helping his team knock off the Minnesota (FCL) Twins by a score of 8-4.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Yoeilin Cespedes singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Grayson Smith in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Cespedes is hitting .407 in 2026 with 33 RBIs and 5 home runs.
