League Punishes Pair for Fighting Tuesday, August 31st , 2027 Yesterday at LMCU Ballpark Tracer Lopez and Anderson Melendez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Beloit Sky Carp and West Michigan Whitecaps. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Lopez will have to sit out 3 while Melendez would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Currently Lopez has 11 home runs and a .187 batting average. Here are his stats for this season: Melendez has chalked up 3 saves and fashioned a record of 3 wins and 2 losses with a 2.18 ERA. He has made 33 relief appearances, thrown 45.1 innings and struck out 61. |
