Texas Rookie Humbles AL Hitters Wednesday, August 1st , 2029 A newcomer to the league, Merritt Beeker sewed up the American League Rookie of the Month Award today after posting stout numbers last month as a starter for Texas. In July he had a fine 1-1 mark as he compiled a 3.27 ERA. Beeker also tossed 9 strikeouts in 11 innings. So far this season, Beeker has chalked up a 3.15 ERA with 28 saves. In 46 relief appearances he has registered a 5-5 won-lost record and struck out 48 batters in 45.2 innings, while walking 24. He has allowed teams to hit .194 against him. |
