White Sox Fall Short, 2-1, at Kansas City
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox.
The Kansas City Royals withstood a fine game by Chicago left fielder Chandler Simpson at Kauffman Stadium, to upend the White Sox, 2-1. Simpson went 2-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. Eli Morgan recorded the save for Kansas City, his 5th of the season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Royals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Asbel Gonzalez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Brady Basso and made the score 2-0, Royals. Gonzalez went 1-4.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Chicago manager John Novak said, following the tough loss.
Kansas City is now 17-11.
