New York Defeated By Guardians, 4-2
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Cleveland and New York from playing their scheduled game.
The Cleveland Guardians rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Shane Bieber to a win, beating the New York Yankees, 4-2, at Progressive Field. Cleveland raised its record to 34-25 with the win.
The Guardians got a big at-bat from catcher David Fry. For the game, Fry went 1 for 2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Cleveland a 2-1 lead.
Bieber attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
