Baltimore Loses, 9-7, Despite Mayo Exploits
|
Coby Mayo did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Baltimore Orioles from being beaten, 9-7, to the Cleveland Guardians at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Mayo belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Tanner Bibee, the winner, goes to 2-2. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts over 6 innings. Emmanuel Clase notched his 4th save of the season.
Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Alex Mooney to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Guardians ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde.
The Orioles fall to 9-14 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2028 season.
