The Chicago Cubs had to overcome a fine effort from Cincinnati pitcher Nick Lodolo to win, 6-5, at Great American Ball Park. Lodolo went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Chicago reliever Yenrri Rojas was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-1. Alimber Santa took the loss for Cincinnati. Luke Little earned save number 2 this season.

Owen Caissie came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In postgame comments to the Chicago Bulletin, Caissie said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Chicago sits at 2-3 in the early going.
