Amarillo shortstop Jansel Luis could do no wrong in his team's 11-8 win over the RockHounds, as he collected 5 hits.

"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," RockHounds skipper Will Venable said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."

Luis agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.

"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

Jansel Luis doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Alvin Nova in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Francis Marte in the 9th and hit a two-run double in the 10th.

This year, Luis is hitting .271 with 42 hits, 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and has scored 29 runs.
