Red Sox Deny Orioles, 4-3
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles, 4-3, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Roman Anthony, in particular, was impressive. He went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The win belonged to Mason Burns in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Corbin Burnes took the loss for Baltimore. Picking up his 21st save was 35-year old left-handed pitcher Josh Hader.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Tommy Edman? The 34-year old second baseman Edman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Boston up, 4-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde. "But we decided not to take it."
The Red Sox, at 98-61, have a comfortable 17-game lead in their division.
