Mets Win with Late Heroics
|
Well, that's how to end a game in style.
The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves, 10-7, in 10 innings. New York center fielder Luis Robert Jr., in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Calvin Faucher, now 6-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
The decisive blow was delivered by Lawrence Butler in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 3-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher JR Ritchie to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Robert Jr. said. "That's why you play the game."
The 4th-place Mets now have a record of 74-84.
