Pirates Claim 5-3 Triumph

The Pittsburgh Pirates knocked off the Chicago Cubs, 5-3, in National League action at Wrigley Field. Pittsburgh pitcher and Pleasanton, California, native Matt Ager had an outstanding performance. Ager got the win, improving to 10-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Edwin Díaz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 50 of 58 save opportunities.
Konnor Griffin broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the third with a run-scoring walk. It put the Pirates in front, 2-1. For the game, Griffin was 1-3 with 2 walks.
