Nationals Sneak By Brewers, 9-8
|
In a high-scoring contest between Washington and Milwaukee, left fielder Michael Conforto was a difference-maker. Conforto distinguished himself in the 9-8 Washington win. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. JB Middleton earned the save for Washington, his 47th of the year. The win elevated the Nationals to 82-68.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Gabriel Gonzalez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Angel Cervantes, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 9-8.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Conforto.
