Giants Drop Contest, 5-4, to St. Louis
|
San Francisco center fielder Jung-hoo Lee had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Lee went 2 for 3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as St. Louis beat the Giants, 5-4. St. Louis reliever Drew Rom was the winner. His record is now 6-3. Ryan Walker took the loss. Gordon Graceffo got the save, his 14th in 17 chances.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Jordan Walker to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were the better team," crowed Walker.
With the win over San Francisco, the Cardinals improved to 68-84.
