The first-place Houston Astros picked up another win.

The Houston Astros picked up a win at Minute Maid Park, downing the Los Angeles Angels, 4-3. On the mound for Houston was left-hander Framber Valdez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Houston leads the American League West Division by 6 games.

Jason Schiavone had a big solo home run for the Astros in the bottom of the second inning. With Houston leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Zach Showalter and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Astros on top, 3-0.

"Framber executed his pitches at a high level," said Houston manager Fredi Gonzalez.
