Cubs Prevail, 5-3, Over Philadelphia
|
Wrigley Field was the site of a competitive game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs.
Chicago starter Justin Steele pitched well against the Philadelphia Phillies at Wrigley Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Chicago reliever Luke Little picked up the win, upping his record to 4-5. Aaron Nola was saddled with the loss. Tim Mayza earned his 4th save in 4 chances.
Chicago took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Jason Heyward hit a 2-run single to make it 4-2, Cubs.
Chicago manager Craig Counsell was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
The second-place Cubs now have a win-loss record of 44-38.
