Reds Deal Tigers 6-4 Defeat
|
Cincinnati designated hitter Matt McLain contributed significantly to his team's 6-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. McLain went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Reds. Cole Schoenwetter earned his 11th save in 13 chances. Their 54-53 record puts the Reds third in the National League Central Division.
McLain had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-2 fastball from Ethan Roberts, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Reds a 6-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for McLain.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said McLain.
