The Minnesota Twins overcame a good performance by Cleveland first baseman Cooper Kinney to knock off Cleveland, 9-6, at Target Field. Kinney went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Minnesota pitcher Louie Varland earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Jackson Ferris suffered the loss. The triumph puts Minnesota at 55-52 for the season.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Matt Wallner was at the plate when Minnesota scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Twins to go in front, 7-6.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Rocco Baldelli.
