Nationals Pull Out Late Win, 6-5
|
The Washington Nationals faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Cole Ragans, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Wrigley Field by a final score of 6-5. Ragans went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Ryan Helsley notched his 9th save in 11 chances. The loss makes Chicago 32-24.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Derek Hill? The 30-year old center fielder Hill stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Washington up, 6-5. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Hill told reporters after the game.
