Tigers Best Red Sox in Pitching Duel
|
Tarik Skubal brought his A-game to help Detroit defeat the Boston Red Sox, 2-1. Skubal picked up the win for Detroit, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 14-9. Tyler Holton earned his 3rd save in 6 chances.
Detroit third baseman Zach McKinstry contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 65th hit of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 2-1.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Boston manager Tyler Graham.
Boston's current losing streak is now 4 games.
