|
The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros, 9-3, in part because of catcher Jesus Rodriguez. Rodriguez was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Yankees. Jared Jones earned the win to go to 4-2. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. New York, with the win, climbs to 48-92.
With New York leading 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Rodriguez hit a fastball from Caleb Ferguson for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 9-3.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Rodriguez told the New York Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
