Royals 3-1 Winners Over Detroit
|
Kansas City starter Erick Fedde put a stranglehold on the Detroit offense. The right-hander had complete command of his sinker in leading the Royals to a 3-1 win. Justin Wilson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. Lucas Erceg earned his 20th save, after closing out the game.
Had Salvador Perez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Perez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Royals.
"Erick set the tone," said Chris Rios, the Royals manager.
The Royals, at 56-77, sit in last place in the American League Central Division.
