Skenes Helps Cleveland Take Wildcard Series Game 1
The Cleveland Guardians powered past the visiting Minnesota Twins, 5-2, in the opener of the Wildcard Series at Progressive Field. Cleveland starting pitcher Paul Skenes threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Guardians now lead the series 1-0.

James Tibbs hit a solo home run off Mike Novoa in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Guardians ahead, 3-2. In addition to the homer, Tibbs had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.

Said losing manager Rocco Baldelli: "Give the Guardians credit. They played a better game than we did."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
