Crawdads Heading to Round 2
The Hickory Crawdads and Greenville Drive didn't hold back anything in the Round 1, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Round 2.

Hickory won the final game by a score of 4-1 at L.P. Frans Stadium and that concluded the series, 4-3.

"Relief is the biggest thing," Hickory second baseman Echedry Vargas said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Greenville deserves credit for the hard fight."

Vargas paced the Hickory offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .357 with a .455 on-base percentage, 4 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 8 runs.

The Hickory Crawdads will play against the Brooklyn Cyclones in the next round. Brooklyn won their series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
