Giants Nip Astros, 3-2
|
The Houston Astros got a superb performance from pitcher Humberto Garza, but the San Francisco Giants still won the game, 3-2. Garza threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The win belonged to Aiven Cabral in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jacob Webb took the loss for Houston. Picking up the save was Ethan Lanthier, his 5th.
San Francisco used a timely hit from Adrian Sugastey to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Sugastey attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
The triumph makes San Francisco 13-36.
