Reds Lose at Home, 7-6
|
Chicago picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, bumping off the Cincinnati Reds, 7-6. Pitcher Hayden Wesneski was a major reason the Cubs emerged victorious. Luke Little earned his 14th save, after closing out the game. The Reds, now 24-22, have lost 4 straight.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes. For the game, Hayes went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Chicago a 2-0 lead.
"Hayden gets on the mound and he competes and that's what you want," said Chicago manager Dave Willman.
