Guardians Raise Rally Flag, Beat Houston, 5-2
|
The Guardians grabbed a win, 5-2, at Minute Maid Park, overcoming a fine effort from Houston pitcher Framber Valdez. Valdez went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Emmanuel Clase earned his 12th save, after closing out the game. The Astros, at 28-19, have lost 5 in a row.
Alex Mooney came through with a big-time hit for Cleveland. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt.
