The Oakland Athletics outlasted Jeremy Pena and the Houston Astros, 8-7. Pena was impressive in the loss. The Houston shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. With the win, the Athletics are 12-24.

Isaac Paredes drove in one run for Oakland. The 29-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mitch Keller. It was his 18th RBI of the season.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Paredes told the Oakland Gazette.
