Phillips Guns Down Butter Cows Monday, July 6th , 2065 There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching. Jed Phillips of the Morganville Gazelles blanked the Iowa Butter Cows, 3-0, at Gray Grounds today, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 5-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles. "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Phillips said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance." Phillips walked 2 and struck out 15 in the victory. "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Butter Cows manager said later.
