Growlers Hold Off Hitmakers, 4-3
|
The Grand Rapids Growlers defeated the Motown Hitmakers, 4-3, in To The Wall Baseball action at The Upper Deck. Grand Rapids pitcher Lucas Parsons had a standout performance. In 5.2 innings, Parsons surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Kevin Adams got the save, his 5th in 7 chances.
The Growlers got a big at-bat from shortstop Cipriano Hernández. For the game, Hernández went 1 for 4 with a triple. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Grand Rapids a 1-0 lead.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Parsons.
With the win, the Growlers are 53-106.
