House of Brews first baseman Sergio Ruíz left his mark on his team's 10-9 win over the Reykjavik Phoenix. Ruíz went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Newcastle in the contest. The win went to Jim Love in relief. His record improves to 9-8. Naruhiko Kiyomizu took the loss. Newcastle, with the win, is 36-71.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Brent Taylor Jr. came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Reykjavik pitcher Naruhiko Kiyomizu, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Newcastle on top, 10-9.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Taylor Jr. told the Newcastle Chronicle.
