Yard Cats Capture Close Win
|
The Ypsi Yard Cats and Ludington LumberJacks played an exciting game.
The Ypsi Yard Cats besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Ludington second baseman Albert Salkov by beating the LumberJacks, 4-3, at Husqvarna Field. Salkov was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Sean Bigelow in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Héctor Chávez took the loss for Ludington. Billy Wagner collected save number 33.
Ypsi used the timely hitting of Malaki Lahahana to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yard Cats on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Ypsi manager Patrick Holt.
The Yard Cats have an impressive 65-38 record.
