Smasheville was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Ludington LumberJacks and Asheville Boomsticks.

Ludington beat Asheville at Smasheville, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Darryl Bell. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Andy Durán, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings.

Carlos González came through with a big-time hit for Ludington. The shortstop smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We ground out the win," said González. "That's all that matters."

Ludington now owns a record of 43-45.
