Fishers Thwart Stalkers, 5-3
|
Wildwood and Iowa City duked it out and the Fishers came out victorious.
The Wildwood Fishers beat the Iowa City Stalkers, 5-3, at Carp Coliseum. Wildwood left fielder Ken Griffey, Jr had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Ronald Dempsey, credited with the save, is now 8 for 9 in save opportunities.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the fifth, Griffey, Jr had a key at-bat for Wildwood. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Griffey, Jr hit a run-scoring single off Rodney Tai, making the score 4-3, Fishers.
Despite the victory, Griffey, Jr was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
The second-place Fishers have won 4 in a row.
